Trypanophobia / Fear of Needles

Trypanophobia / Fear of Needles

This is a most common phobia. This is not a fear of any needle but a fear of needles used by medical practitioners. Needle phobia is a condition that has become an increasingly important issue in medicine because of the modern reliance on injections and blood testing. Fear of needle is an intense fear of something that poses little or no actual danger. While people with fear of needle realize that these fears are irrational, they often find that facing, or even thinking about facing, the feared situation brings on a panic attack or severe anxiety.

This is actually a phobia that can kill you. Trypanophobia in general is pretty dangerous condition to have to begin with, as it means avoidance of needle, doctors, pathologists and dentists in the event of an illness, meaning that by the time they do present to a hospital they’re going to be in pretty poor shape.
